BOSTON – The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority and its dining and hospitality partner Levy Restaurants purchased a record 74 percent of total food and beverage with Massachusetts businesses in FY2013, a 20 percent increase over previous years and part of an ongoing program to work with local businesses to bolster the state economy. A Letter to our Customers Regarding Reported Credit Card Theft in Boston

Today, the Boston Globe reported that attendees from two fall conventions held in Boston – The American Public Health Association (APHA) and the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) – were victims of credit card fraud. Although it is unclear how the credit card data thefts occurred, these attendees reported that they used their credit cards in area restaurants and businesses while they attended their event at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. BOSTON – The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority today filed legislation in the State House of Representatives that would authorize the expansion of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in the South Boston Waterfront without the need for new fees or taxes. Co-sponsored by State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry and State Representative Nick Collins, the bill authorizes a 1.3 million-square-foot expansion of the BCEC, including substantial additions to the exhibit and meeting space, and a second, larger ballroom, allowing the MCCA to attract larger events and host multiple concurrent events. Blazing fast (and free) wireless internet access is the future for conventions in Boston

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority’s board of directors today approved a major upgrade to the networks that serve the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center and the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, making the two award-winning facilities among the fastest and most connected convention centers in the world when it comes to internet access.
