Statement from Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) Executive Director David Gibbons
On November 21, 2022, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) issued a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for the Lease, Development, Design, Construction and Operation of MCCA owned properties located on D & E Streets in the South Boston neighborhood of the City of Boston.
Based on input received by several constituencies, the MCCA has decided to:
Cancel the pending RFP process for the Development of the Properties
Reject all proposals received in response to the RFP for the Development of the Properties
Issue an Amended and Restated RFP for the Development of the Properties
Notice of the RFP cancellation has been posted publicly, and a period of community outreach will take place in consultation with the BPDA, prior to the issuance of an Amended and Restated RFP. Proposals for the revised RFP will be due ninety (90) days from the issuance of the RFP. Based on this timeline, it is expected that a developer will be selected sometime in the Fall of 2023.
