Cosplayers and fellow anime lovers from the Northeast are checking things twice before making their way to Anime Boston this weekend. The popular anime convention is one of the largest in the country; last year's event drew 26,975 attendees. This year's three day event will bring even more people to Boston's Hynes Convention Center and Sheraton Boston Hotel.

Anime Boston 2017 will be packed with special events throughout the weekend. On Friday, there will be a special concert from pop act Puffy AmiYumi, who are best known for performing the theme song for Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go. In 2004, they made the transition to animation with their own cartoon titled Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, which aired on the Cartoon Network. The outfit will kick off their U.S. tour in support of their new Paffipipoyama EP at the event.

On Saturday, rockers OKAMOTO’s will take the stage. The band, whose song "Yokubō o Sakebe!!!" was used as an ending theme for Naruto: Shippuden, are supporting their 2016 BL EP. After their performance, the spectacular Masquerade takes place, and a plethora of talented individuals will grace the stage for skits. The winner of the cosplay contest will also be announced, and one lucky individual will win a trip for two to Japan. More rules on the contest, which is sponsored by Arda Wigs, can be found here.

On Sunday, voice actors Brina Palencia, Bryson Baugus, Cherami Leigh, Johnny Yong Bosch, Kyle Jones, and Lisa Ortiz will take part of a special round table. The entire schedule can be seen here.

If you missed out on pre-registration online, you can pick up a pass at the door. Adults ages 13 and up will have to drop $65 for a weekend pass, and children ages six to 12 will only have to spend $55. If you pay with cash, you'll get a $5 discount. There's also a special Sunday only door price for those looking to only attend one day. Adults pay $25, and children will spend $15. The $5 cash discount applies here as well.
